In Microcity, learning has no boundaries. This educational philosophy has embraced a thousand individuals who have reached the peak of their lives and become successful in their chosen careers.
Microcity is not yet a university, but it continues to inspire the hearts of the students, ignite their passion, hone their exceptional skills, and mold their personalities into becoming a better youth.
A history that is marked on the ground relives the over two decades of existence of Microcity. Reminiscing the past, it began with the aspiration of a woman, Ms. Carmen Morales – Mallari, a graduate of Bachelor of Science in Chemical Engineering and a holder of a Master of Science in Computer Science. She pioneered her vision of a school that will play a pivotal role in providing quality education with boundless learning in the locality.
Formerly known as Microcity Computer College Foundation, Inc., it used to be located at the Recar Building in Balanga City. In 1999, it acquired its own school building comprising of four floors with a rooftop to accommodate the fast rising number of students. In 2015, it changed its name to Microcity College of Business and Technology, Inc. because of the various programs it offers such as:
• BS Computer Engineering;
• BS Computer Science;
• BS Electronics Engineering;
• Associate in Computer Technology;
• Diploma in Communications and Information Technology;
• Hotel and Restaurant Management; and
• Other short-term and TESDA courses.
Just recently, Microcity also offered programs in Senior High School. At the same time, the institution is an accredited assessment center for the different NC courses of TESDA. It also incorporated Microcity Institute of Instrumentation and Technology, Inc. last February 2016 considering scholarships coming from OWWA.
Microcity relentlessly pursues its vision to be an excellent place of education where alumnae are globally competitive, responsible citizens and faithful family members. Its mission is to empower students through comprehensive education programs and other areas of learning that contribute to the holistic development of its graduates.
Truly, the vision-mission of the school never ceases to enrich students to become providers of the society’s needs. The school has something to be proud of because most of the graduates are now living their dreams abroad as they also carve their names in professional fields. This is a great fruit of labor that could not be exchanged even with gold for it is already a treasure to be cherished.
Together with its dedicated faculty members, staff, students and parents, Microcity College marked its 25th year of committed service through engaging activities. It started with a community extension program – simple gifts, games, food and a program showcasing the students’ talents that brought joy to both pupils and teachers in an Aeta community.
The adage, “learning has no boundaries” is a proof that anyone outside the walls of the school can get in touch with the hands that are always ready to help; no need for calls or cries before actions are carried out. Furthermore, arts and cultural activities were integrated in the celebration of the founding anniversary. The two-day engagement captured the smiles and laughter on the faces of the staff and students. It is a memory that will be never be forgotten.
As the school steps forward to another year of its constant resiliency, it will continue to rise and soar carrying its core values. It will hold the hands of the youth who will soon become catalysts of social change. It will open opportunities to all who wish to learn more and become skilled. It will strengthen its faith in God. It will love anyone amid diversity. Most of all, it will never lose its pillars that carry its own house.
Microcity … only a few people may know this school for now, yet it continues to strive to succeed – with excellence and valor.
